Terms of Service
By using Farcle you agree to these terms. They cover what we offer, what's expected of you, what happens when subscriptions are involved, and how disputes work. Plain English.
1. The service
Farcle ("we", "us") provides a private signalling layer between teens and the parents or guardians in their circle. The service includes the iOS app, the marketing site at farcle.app, and the backend API.
You can use Farcle for free, or upgrade to the Family Plan to unlock additional signals, atmospheric themes, and circle features. Premium features are summarised on the pricing page.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create a Farcle account. If you are between 13 and 17, you should use Farcle with a parent or guardian's awareness; the onboarding ritual is designed to be done together. We don't knowingly accept users under 13.
If you are creating an account on behalf of a teen as their parent or guardian, you confirm you have the right to do so under the laws of your jurisdiction.
3. Your account
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the email and name you provide.
- You're responsible for keeping your password private. Don't share your account with anyone.
- One human, one account. Don't impersonate other people.
- If you suspect your account is compromised, change your password and email hello@farcle.app immediately.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Farcle to:
- Send harassing, threatening, or harmful content to anyone.
- Pretend to be someone you're not.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract data from accounts that aren't yours.
- Resell access to the service.
- Upload anyone's image or content without their permission. Avatars must be your own photo or one you have rights to use.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.
5. Privacy boundary inside a circle
Farcle is built around the rule that a teen's private check-in data is theirs to share. By using Farcle as a parent, you agree that you cannot read your teen's mood numbers, tags, or journal notes, regardless of your role inside the circle. The product enforces this; please don't ask us to disable the boundary.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Subscription pricing:
- Family Plan Monthly: $5.99 per month (USD or local equivalent)
- Family Plan Yearly: $59.99 per year (USD or local equivalent) — equivalent to 2 months free compared to monthly billing
What Family Plan includes:
- 20 additional premium signals (28 total vs 8 on free tier) — more vocabulary for nuanced everyday moments like "rough-week", "tomorrow-heavy", "overwhelmed-school", "lonely-even-with-people", "small-win", "celebrate-with-me"
- 7 hand-painted atmosphere themes for the teen dashboard (twilight, ember, aurora, velvet, monsoon, and more)
- Unlimited parent reach-outs (free tier limited to 1 per day)
- Sibling presence beacons — when multiple teens are in the same circle, each sees a quiet "your sibling checked in today" indicator (no mood data, just presence)
- Priority email support — replies within 1 business day (free tier: best-effort, currently 5 business days)
Billing and management:
- Family Plan subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google through their app stores; we don't see your card details.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Pricing shown is current at the time of purchase. Existing subscriptions don't change price for the rest of the term you bought.
- Annual subscriptions are charged up front. Monthly subscriptions are charged each month.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions anytime through your Apple App Store account settings or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; no partial refunds for unused time except as required by law.
- If your payment fails, we use the grace period your store provides before the subscription expires.
- When a subscription ends, your account stays active on the free tier. Premium signals and atmospheric themes pause until you renew. The free tier remains fully functional.
7. Content you provide
You retain ownership of anything you write or upload to Farcle (private notes, tags, avatar). You grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit that content as needed to operate the service for you and the people you've invited into your circle. We don't sell your content, and we don't use it to train models.
8. Termination
You can delete your account anytime in Settings. Deletion is final and removes your data per the schedule in our Privacy Policy.
We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or use it to harm someone. We will tell you why except where doing so would compromise an investigation.
9. The service is provided "as is"
Farcle does its best to be reliable, but we don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure. We provide the service on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent allowed by law we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Farcle is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you or your teen is in crisis, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line. Resources are listed in our Privacy Policy.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Farcle and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service. Our aggregate liability for direct damages is capped at the greater of $50 USD or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; in that case the cap is the lowest amount allowed in your jurisdiction.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we'll update the date at the top of this page and notify active users by email and in-app banner at least 14 days before the new version takes effect. Your continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Indonesia (where Farcle is operated from). Disputes are first to be resolved by good-faith discussion at hello@farcle.app; if we can't resolve them within 30 days, the courts of Jakarta have exclusive jurisdiction unless your local law mandates otherwise.
